Roll to sheet cutting machine, what is it?

Roll-to-sheet cutting machine–A brief introduction

What is a roll-to-sheet cutting machine? What does it do?

A roll-to-sheet cutting machine, we also call an auto sheeter, converts a flexible material into individual sheets that are stacked. In this process, your material can be slit to the needed width firstly and then be cut to the desired length as your request. In a word, it takes a large master roll, then the web is passed through the slitting knife and the guillotine cutting knife finally is formed flat, individual sheets with specific dimensions. Instead of cutting by hand, an auto sheeter can help you largely improve efficiency and accuracy.

How many parts of a roll to sheet cutter?

Normally, a roll to sheet cutter is composed of unwinder, slitting section, guillotine cutter, and stacker. The web is pulled through these four parts, finally to get the desired sheets that are stacked. Let’s break it down and introduce it one by one.

Unwinder: it is used to hold the mother roll. Mother roll, we also called parent roll, sometimes it is large jumbo roll, very heavy and big diameter. We design our unwinders based on the different mother rolls.

Slitting section: normally we install rotary shear knives to slit material to a custom width.

Guillotine cutter: this heavy-duty cutting knife can cut the material into any desired length.

Stacker: the individual sheets are collected into stack form by this stacker. To save labor and improve efficiency, we can design different stackers to fulfill customers’ needs.

The accuracy of the sheets

Now let’s focus on the accuracy. When you are cutting your materials by hand, letting HOCHINT machines perform your sheeting converting service will help you save time and improve consistency. All our machines are equipped with a high-precision servo motor to control the pulling of the web, allowing each piece to be cut at the same length. Controlled by PLC, your material can be pulled at set length by servo motor, then the guillotine knife cut it into custom length. These repeat motions allow getting flat, individual pieces that are in the same dimension.
